Frequently Asked Questions

We know you have questions. We have honest answers.

What happens during the first consulation?

Our first call or visit is simply a conversation — no contracts, no commitment. We listen to your situation, answer your questions, and assess what kind of support would be most helpful. From there, we create a care plan together that fits your loved one's needs and your family's preferences.

Is your agency licensed and bonded?

L.A.'s Home Caregivers LLC is registered, licensed, bonded and insured. You can have peace of mind that you won’t lose money when working with us. You can be confident that we operate a trustworthy, reputable, and responsible business.

Can I be involved in choosing the caregiver?

Absolutely. We take the time to understand your loved one's personality, preferences, and daily routine so we can make the best match possible. Your input matters deeply in this process — you know your family member better than anyone.

Can I meet the caregiver before the services start?

Our client care coordinator will accompany our caregiver for an interview to make sure that there is client-caregiver compatibility.

How do you select your caregivers?

Our caregivers are carefully selected through a stringent process that includes a suitability and skills check with past employers, professional and personal references, a criminal background check and driving record.

Are your caregivers trained?

Our caregivers all have a minimum of two years of experience. They understand the importance of their role and how to encourage our clients to remain as independent as possible to maintain their dignity. LA’s Home Caregivers are trained in patient transfer safety and positioning, nutrition intake, proper feeding, incontinent care and hospice care. Our caregivers must also attend mandatory training. We promote mobility through activity and stay connected to the community to avoid social isolation

What are the Caregiver's job functions?

A caregiver’s job includes but is not limited to:

  • Serving as a companion to clients
  • Transporting clients to and from appointments, errands, activities, etc.
  • Managing medication
  • Preparing meals
  • Performing light housekeeping duties
  • Providing bathing and dressing assistance
  • Encouraging socialization and participation in community activities
  • Assisting with transfer and mobility
  • Shopping and running errands
  • Maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment

What if the caregiver is sick or does not show up?

If your regular caregiver is sick, we will send a temporary replacement. This is to promote continuity of care to assure your safety.

How quickly can care begin?

In many cases, we can begin care within 24 to 48 hours. We understand that the need for care can arise quickly, and we do everything possible to move at your pace.

What is a caregiver match process?

At LA’s Home Caregivers, we do our absolute best to match up caregivers to our clients who have similar personalities, interests to ensure that not only do our clients get the support they need but that the clients feel comfortable and look forward to each visit from the caregiver.

What are your rates?

Rates are arranged in confidence and privacy between L.A.’s Home Caregivers and the client. Our rates vary depending on the level of care needed. Please call us for more information

Who pays the caregiver?

LA’s Home Caregivers, LLC takes care of this step for you. We pay our employees. All taxes are deducted from the employee’s wages. Tipping / Gratuities are not encouraged.

Do you provide care in hospitals/assisted living facilities?

We  provide services wherever the client is residing.

Do you accept long-term care (LTC) insurance?

We work with long-term care insurance and can guide you through the process of using those benefits. We also accept private pay. Please contact us directly to discuss your specific coverage and options — we are happy to help you navigate this.

Why should I choose LAHCG, LLC rather than hiring someone directly?

At LA’s Home Caregivers, we are dedicated to making sure that besides the standard training process and required certifications, we ensure that our care team is obligated to take part in trainings to keep our caregivers active in learning new innovative and safe ways of supporting our clients.

Do you offer 24-hour or live-in care?

Yes. We provide flexible scheduling including hourly visits, overnight care, and full live-in arrangements. Whether your loved one needs a few hours of help each day or round-the-clock support, we can build a plan that works.

Do you care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia?

Yes. Our caregivers are experienced in supporting individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory-related conditions. We are trained in patience-first approaches that preserve dignity and reduce anxiety for both our clients and their families.

What happens when I am not happy with my assigned caregiver?

We will find you a better match — period. We take compatibility seriously and understand that the right personality fit matters just as much as skill. If for any reason you feel the relationship isn't working, just call us and we will make it right promptly.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
